We are already feeling the effects of the fourth industrial revolution across the world. To maintain a healthy digital economy, Samsung Innovation Campus serves the next generation of experts in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) by training youth in AI and core digital skills, finding their careers in a shifting digital world.

As part of this program, Samsung Spain held the first ‘Innovation Campus Summit: AI for a Better World’ in Madrid, Spain. Bringing together industry experts, the summit underlined Samsung’s strong commitment to foster the use of technology to benefit the society. Peek into what happened on-site.

Explore the Potential of AI

Alfonso Fernández Iglesias, CMO & Head of Direct-to-Consumer at Samsung Electronics Iberia, who is particularly focused on leading the AI communication strategy, opened the first edition of the summit by outlining how AI can help us with the current technological challenges we face. “Experts gathered here today to explore all possibilities of AI and how we can unlock its maximum potential to improve lives and care for our planet. And we are not alone,” he said.

In particular, various AI projects that impact our lives were introduced at the event. Miguel Ángel Ruiz, Head of Innovation and CSR at Samsung España, who has extensive experience in developing AI projects, explained how AI is core to many of the projects carried out within Samsung’s ‘Technology with Purpose’ initiative. This initiative aims to improve lives through technology in education and culture, employment and entrepreneurship, accessibility and well-being. In its 12th year, Samsung Innovation Campus already provided education to more than half a million people in Spain.

Create a Space for Conversation

At the Innovation Campus Summit, various projects were introduced: a robot capable of aiding people with disabilities in complex environments, an AI-based solution for education and online learning, a project seeks to develop new therapies and medical devices for clinical use, etc.

Daniel Rodríguez Asensio, Deputy Minister of Economy and Employment of the Community of Madrid, closed the day with hopeful remarks. “We support companies like Samsung, putting emphasis on stability and trust, as well as growing together with the society. When these companies progress, so does our society,” he said. Samsung Innovation Campus will continue to find new ways to inspire more people and spark dialogue around the significance of AI and newcoming technologies.
