Return of the Mentee

Samsung Innovation Campus 2021

Hi. I’m Passakorn from Thailand and I want to share my story with you about the experience that I had with Samsung Electronics.

In 2019, Samsung Innovation Campus made its debut in Thailand and that is when I first met Samsung.

Since I was a kid, I have always been interested in computers and technology. When I played computer games, I wanted to create my own because the ones I played were not good enough. This is how I got into programming.

I tried self-learning with the help of YouTube videos but these were limited and I couldn’t get a proper understanding of the subject. That is when I learned about Samsung Innovation Campus. It offers very organized and detailed courses and I thought it was the perfect opportunity to obtain professional education within the programming space.

At Samsung Innovation Campus, I explored Scratch, C-programming, Rurple, and Arduino, which expanded my coding and programming capabilities across diverse areas. I also had the chance to apply theoretical lessons to practice while preparing for the Ideathon, where students present their final project ideas. My team’s project was ‘Smart Home Solutions’. This solution required a deep understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and programming, and I was proud that we overcame the obstacles posed throughout the process together as a team.

Samsung Innovation Campus accelerated my passion for AI. After attending the course, I applied to study for Robotics and AI Engineering at King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang - one of the pioneering science and technology institutes in Thailand - and was thrilled when I learned that I had been accepted.

I owe so much to Samsung Innovation Campus! It has taught me theoretical and practical skills and the motivation I gained from the experience is invaluable. In 2020, I was able to give back, as the program’s mentor by sharing my programming knowledge and skills with the students attending Samsung Innovation Campus.

I am back again in 2021 – this time as an assistant instructor for both students and teachers. I am proud to use my passion and abilities to benefit others.

Thank you, Samsung Innovation Campus, for igniting my passion. I am excited to dive deeper into the world of AI and to create new, innovative solutions that Thailand does not yet have. I wish to become a driving force for generations to develop useful innovations to make a better society.
