Samsung Electronics Algeria and the National Higher School of Computer Science (ESI) launched the 2026 edition of Samsung Innovation Campus(SIC), bringing together 50 ESI students for an intensive 420-hour artificial intelligence program that includes a dedicated 40-hour module in generative AI. Min Kyung-tae, South Korea’s ambassador to Algeria, joined the launch ceremony at the Sofitel Hotel in Algiers on Oct. 3, 2026.
Students Build Practical AI Skills Through Hands-On Learning
The 40-hour module in generative AI, added to the curriculum this year, responds to market demand for generative AI skills and complements fundamental coursework in data science, machine learning, deep learning and natural language processing.
Hands-on learning is central to the program. Students apply what they learn through capstone projects, developing solutions to real-world problems and presenting them to a jury of academic and professional experts.
"The 2026 Samsung Innovation Campus program offers ESI students a real opportunity to apply their academic training through a highly enriching experience,” said Abdelkrim Chebieb, Deputy Director of External Relations, Communication and Information Systems at ESI. “This 2026 edition gives them the chance to deepen their knowledge in generative AI and data science, and put their skills to use in the face of real-world challenges."
Alongside technical knowledge, students will develop analytical, problem-solving and teamwork capabilities they can apply in future professional environments.
Partnerships Support Students’ Learning and Career Paths
Samsung Electronics Algeria and ESI are working together with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Algeria to support the 2026 edition SIC program. This collaboration brings together academic, technology and institutional partners to help students build skills for a changing digital landscape.
The 2026 edition builds on the success of previous cohorts. The 2025 edition produced innovative projects such as Rayili, a sentiment analysis platform that analyzes social media discussions in Algerian dialect. The project shows how students can apply their learning to develop solutions with potential value for Algerian companies.
"Samsung takes a long-term approach to supporting Algeria’s digital ecosystem. Samsung Innovation Campus reflects this vision by helping young people build skills in emerging technologies, particularly generative AI, and contribute to the country’s technological and economic development,” said Johnny Jung, General Manager, Samsung Electronics Algeria. “The Embassy of the Republic of Korea’s presence illustrates the strategic importance of Algeria-Korea cooperation and opens new opportunities in innovation and technology education."
Team Algeria Took Its Innovation to the Global Stage
Samsung Electronics Algeria continues to follow and support the students’ journey across other global stages, including Team Algeria’s recent participation in an international robotics competition held in South Korea. The event brought together young people from around the world to tackle real technological challenges. Team Algeria competed in the fire detection challenge, which addressed an issue of direct relevance to Algeria, with Altis Training Center overseeing the initiative and supporting the team. Algeria’s Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Start-ups and Micro-Enterprises also extended its patronage to the initiative, reflecting the country’s priorities in innovation and technological entrepreneurship.
