Samsung Solve for Tomorrow project wins Kazakhstan competition and qualifies for international contest
ALMATY, Kazakhstan – 2025/05/12 – Samsung Electronics Central Eurasia hosted a press breakfast in Almaty for the first time on April 24. Bringing together Samsung’s partners, media representatives, and bloggers who cover the IT industry as well as broader, socially significant topics, the breakfast was dedicated to showcasing the company’s social and charitable initiatives in Kazakhstan.
At the opening of the event, Samsung presented its vision for corporate citizenship, placing a particular focus on the company’s guiding philosophy and core values. Attendees learned about the meaningful social initiatives Samsung has undertaken over the years — and how the company continues to make a lasting impact today.
Guests learned that nowadays, Samsung’s CSR efforts are focused on educating new generations, and that two flagship initiatives, the Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) and Samsung Solve for Tomorrow, drive these efforts. Through the SIC, students across Kazakhstan build valuable IT skills through free access to courses in data analytics using Python and mobile app development in Java.
Samsung Solve for Tomorrow is an engaging contest at which students can develop practical STEM skills, turn their ideas into real projects, and compete for significant prizes. Participants go through mentorship sessions and, in the final round, gain valuable experience pitching their startup ideas. For winners, the contest opens new doors in the world of IT, as they receive additional support to bring their projects to life and special prizes from Samsung.
Since the competition was launched in Kazakhstan in 2021, more than 5000 students have participated, producing more than 1500 projects. At the press breakfast, Samsung announced that applications for the next edition of Solve for Tomorrow are currently open.
Many contest participants have achieved impressive results after participating in the competition. Several of them were mentioned during the press breakfast, with one standout example being Umit, a startup that emerged as a prizewinner at last year’s Solve for Tomorrow contest. The team behind the project developed an innovative oral prosthesis that allows people living with paralysis to use their tongue or head to control a computer mouse and operate a wheelchair. Umit went on to be recognized as the top AI project across all of Central Asia at the prestigious 2025 AICA AWARDS, which took place at Central Asian University in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Umit also took first place at Kazakhstan’s Red Bull basement national startup contest and qualified for the international finals in Tokyo as the only team from Kazakhstan.
At the press breakfast, guests eagerly engaged with contest details, showing genuine interest and asking a number of questions. Inspired by what they saw, many promptly shared what they learned on social media, drawing greater attention to the contest.
As it continues its active efforts in the social sphere, Samsung remains committed to inspiring the next generation of innovators.
