Samsung is committed to promoting and developing technology skills among Thai youth, both online and in 10 schools nationwide, to spark creativity and create opportunities for a better future. The goal is to drive Thai society towards Thailand 5.0 through Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) 2024, which aims to enhance the potential of Thai students in secondary schools in all areas.
This year, there are 7,286 students participating in the program, with Wat Khlong Suan School in Samut Prakan Province as a model of the program’s success through impressive stories from over 113 teachers and students who have applied knowledge from SIC to their daily lives.
Ms. Sujitra Sommanas, a computer science and English teacher at Wat Klong Suan School in Samut Prakan province, said, “The technology teaching activities in the program will start with simple things around the students to get them interested and open their minds to learning and not see technology as something far away. Although the students may not be familiar with AI and coding at first, when they try to learn and do activities with their friends in the SIC class, the students understood the technology and were more enthusiastic. This is because Samsung Innovation Campus has a thought process designed to allow students to apply their knowledge in real life, such as practicing English by talking to AI and having programs that help students understand more easily, such as Dreamweaver, which is supplemented with HTML. We also take care of students with special needs in the classroom so that they can receive appropriate knowledge according to their abilities.”
Learning about technology is no longer a scary thing for the students who participated in Samsung Innovation Campus. Plengrak - Suwaphat Thimthawong, one of the students who participated in the program, who was worried about learning to code and use AI, said, “At first, I didn’t really understand AI. But when I tried to learn, it wasn’t as hard as I thought. Before, we studied in front of the computer screen, so I felt bored and didn’t really understand it. But when at Samsung Innovation Campus, I was able to work in groups with friends more, which made it more fun. I remembered the content better, and I was also able to use AI to search for information when doing homework or translate languages more conveniently. Most importantly, the teachers were friendly and taught in a fun way, which made learning technology fun. As for the future, I dream of becoming a pharmacist and will use technology to search for information, learn new things, and plan my work to become a good pharmacist.”
Methawi Jaisan, a student from Wat Khlong Suan School who participated in Samsung Innovation Campus, said, “I had so much fun doing activities with my friends, and I feel like I understand technology better. I can apply it to my daily life, whether it’s using AI to edit photos and videos or planning my study schedule and reading. As for my future career, I dream of becoming a hairdresser and I think that my knowledge of technology will help me in my work, such as analyzing and designing hairstyles to suit my face shape.”
The stories of students from Wat Klong Suan School, Samut Prakan, are only a part of the success of the program. There are many students from more than 10 schools nationwide who have upgraded their knowledge and skills in technology through Samsung Innovation Campus, opening new perspectives of creativity that will be the starting point for creating change for a better future together.
