This crisis affects their lives and property beyond our imagination. We hope that our support will help them to recover materially and mentally.”

“Floods have occurred here every year, but they were not as damaging as this year. Preparation time was short, so every household is affected, including loss of agricultural equipment and products. We thank Samsung for their support and for not forgetting us,” said Ms. Palaporn Karuna, one of the victims at Wiang Sa, Nan.

Mr. Ronnakrit Kositratana, a Samsung volunteer, said, “This is the first time for me to join a Samsung volunteer activity. It is an opportunity to give back to society and build relationships with other Samsung employees. The victims have the combined effects of flooding as well as Covid-19, and we hope our support will keep them moving forward.”

Not only the households, but schools and students have also struggled due to the monsoon. To ensure that the local communities continue to have access to decent basic living necessities, Samsung donated washing machines to four boarding schools in Northern Thailand, under CCF, to improve students’ hygiene as schools struggle with heavy rain.

Thananya Kaenga, a student at Ban U Tum school in Chiang Mai, said, “Normally we wash our student uniforms and clothes by hand, but it is hard to wash and dry our clothes during the rainy season. It has been raining for many days in a row here and we have no choices but to wear damp uniforms to school. The washing machines that Samsung has provided will help us to wash our clothes properly and go to school with nice uniforms.”
