Their achievements did not go unnoticed by the judges from Samsung and industry experts, who recognized the potential within their innovative projects.
Find out who made it into the pool of extraordinary entries, and which of the three coveted the first three places with their innovative idea of integrating Samsung technology in their community.
Streamlining busy emergency rooms
The first-place distinction was given to Triage Kiosk, a solution aimed to revolutionize the admission process in emergency departments through the ingenious integration of an all-in-one Samsung kiosk display.
Overwhelmed with excitement, Kevin and Ann – the creators of Triage Kiosk – expressed their appreciation, saying, “We are incredibly thankful for the opportunity to present our idea at Solve for Tomorrow and receive recognition for our initiative. Winning this prize, including the money, means we will be able to build Triage Kiosk to streamline the triage process, improve the allocation of resources, and decrease wait times in emergency rooms.”
“This year’s Solve for Tomorrow Contest truly raised the bar and brought forward a new caliber of exceptional ideas, creativity, and innovation from Canadian youth,” said Jennifer Groh, Senior Director, Corporate Marketing and Citizenship, Samsung Canada. “We are thrilled to celebrate Triage Kiosk for their innovative idea, which is a testament to the purpose of this contest: fostering change in our communities.
Pioneering innovations for dignity and road safety
Moving forward, the second and third-place prize winners, RadiCalgary and Beedie Bright, respectively, also earned well-deserved recognition for their solutions.
RadiCalgary presented a compelling concept aimed at addressing the lack of basic hygiene facilities for individuals experiencing homelessness. Their mobile hygiene unit incorporated showers, bathrooms, and Samsung laundry machines. “The components of the RadiCalgary facility all work in unison to restore dignity and improve the well-being of those in need,” explained the team. “We are thankful that our idea has been successfully showcased through Solve for Tomorrow.”
Meanwhile, Beedie Bright developed innovative dash cameras, crafted from recycled Samsung phones and sustainable materials. Their solution aims to tackle the high rates of vehicular accidents, envisioning a safer future for all. The team also conveyed their gratitude to Samsung, stating, “We dedicated much to this challenge, striving to create a meaningful solution to help Canadians.”
Solve for Tomorrow contest embodies the spirit of empowering young students to make a difference in the world. As a catalyst for positive change within local communities, we hope that the program can ignite the bright minds of Canada with great ideas.
