This year marks the third year for Samsung Solve for Tomorrow in Malaysia, a program which challenges students to propose creative solutions for real-world problems using their knowledge in STEM. According to the theme of ‘CHANGEMAKERS,’ selected students will be guided by four professional expert leaders throughout their ideation and development process.
Each leader, ignited by their passion, will work alongside students to provide solutions across three main themes – Education & Learning, Sustainability & Environment, and Health & Well-being. Let’s see what the leaders have to say.
It all starts with the educators
Norhailmi, High School Science Master, explained his passion as a teacher: “When the world was in lockdown, I had to do what it takes to retain the excitement and interest in education – and my journey on TikTok took off. I modified my approach to educate my students and Malaysians at large.”
Cheryl, CEO of Pemimpin GSL, leads an initiative that empowers school leaders to drive positive school transformation. “Teaching English at a rural secondary school led me to bigger ventures in improving Malaysia’s education system. For me, it all starts with the educators – that is where my mission is at.”
Changing the world with the power of STEM
Rocyie, certified holistic nutritionist, used the power of technology to create a more compassionate and empathetic space for people with skin conditions. “I launched a body positivity campaign and received an overwhelmingly positive response in less than a month,” she said.
Vinesh is CEO of FatHopes Energy, who started his adventure through the development of science behind taking oil waste from food industries in Malaysia and transforming them into biofuels to reduce carbon emissions. He said, “Perseverance goes a long way, and I hope I can inspire the next group of individuals to thrive in the STEM space.”
Through Solve for Tomorrow, these leaders will be able to motivate, influence, and communicate their knowledge for students to take on bold missions in changing the world.
