Samsung Solve for Tomorrow 2023

India is home to countless young and talented innovators with tremendous potential to solve global problems and pave the way for a sustainable future. Through Samsung Solve for Tomorrow, a nationwide education and innovation competition equipping youth with key technology skills, India’s youth had a chance to share their innovative ideas and enrich people’s lives.

Samsung India’s first Solve for Tomorrow competition was held in 2022, showing a glimpse of what the next generation was capable of. The program joined forces with FIIT IIT-Delhi to identify crucial topics with themes including education, environment, healthcare, and agriculture, challenging applicants to tackle the most pressing issues.

Empowering young innovators for the future

Top candidates received essential entrepreneurial, critical thinking, and leadership skills giving them a head start for their aspirational future. They were guided to understand the UN’s sustainable development goals for India and explore possibilities to positively impact their communities. After a rigorous process along with plenty of support and guidance, the candidates pitched their ideas to a jury of industry leaders and experts in the final that was aired on national television.

The three winning teams were bestowed with prestigious honors for their game-changing ideas. Team Alpha Monitor developed a wristband that monitors Alzheimer’s patients and alerts their caregivers if there are any changes in health conditions. Team Udaan created eco-friendly, affordable, and washable sanitary pads using shredded sugarcane bagasse. Finally, Team Sputnik Brain built a wearable device to help reduce stress without chemicals and adverse effects.

New season, new heights

Samsung India’s first Solve for Tomorrow competition cultivated a culture of innovation among Indian students and inspired the next generation to dream big and turn their ideas into action. The winners received a total grant of INR 1 crore and a chance for a 6-month incubation program by FITT IIT Delhi to improve their prototypes and receive real-world validation for their products and services.

The next Solve for Tomorrow competition aims even higher with a host of rewards and benefits including exclusive mentorship, boot camps, prototyping assistance, access to Samsung R&D centers, and more. This year, the program covers 20 cities across India and unveils an updated set of themes including Diversity & Inclusion, Education & Learning, Health & Wellness, and Environment & Sustainability.

Solve for Tomorrow has a lot more in store for the future as it seeks to empower a new generation of leaders.
