The next generation of innovators

Through various programs such as workshops, coaching sessions, and special lectures, students participating in Solve for Tomorrow learned a design thinking approach to problem solving, acquired knowledge in STEM, and developed their ideas in different ways over several months. The winner and runner-up were selected based on innovative ideas that effectively solve socially pressing issues.

The winner received €5,000 and the runner-up €2,500 as well as Galaxy products. On top of this, they will also receive continued mentoring from Samsung and Hyper Island, a school that provides global learning experiences in digital innovation, to create real impact in Nordic society.

Ideas full of hopes and dreams

The winner of Solve for Tomorrow Nordics 2022 is Sala Olausson, who developed a special app for children between the age of 4-12 years. Considering that 43% of all parents in Sweden have faced problems getting their children to take medicine, the app gamifies the procedure. It invites both the children and parents to create profiles collect points for remembering to keep up with their routine.

The runner-up idea is a recycling trash bin developed by Tiba and Dhuha Al-Sallami, which starts the recycling process as soon as you throw your bottle away. With help from the machine polyformer, the machine recycles the pet bottles to 3D printing strings which are highly demanded material in an emerging market. It is exciting to see what the future holds for the next generation of innovators.
