Since its implementation in 2014, Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Brazil has shown how education can transform the lives of the Brazilian communities. The diversity of ideas and projects that the students present every year allows the society to perceive social problems like sustainability, health and public safety differently and brings them together to build a better future for all.

Meet the students of Brazil’s Solve for Tomorrow in 2021 who share their experience in the project and thoughts on creating a better future.

Inspiring the students

To the students of Brazil, Samsung Solve for Tomorrow was a transforming experience that boosted their role and responsibility as the young force that brings positive changes to life. “We are no longer the same people we were when this began. Solve for Tomorrow made us grow in every way both as people and as students,” said one of the participants. His friends commented, “In addition to the emotional changes we feel now that we observe reality and social problems in a new perspective, we also see changes in our ways of learning and creating.” They continued, “We have developed unique, result-oriented thinking. We would see the positive side of things and think about the changes we can bring forth.”

Students also say they were inspired by the support of their teachers and Samsung mentors who guided them throughout the conceptualization of the project to the development of actual prototypes. “Teachers were always supporting us. They gave us a lot of freedom to express ourselves.” A teacher from one of the winning teams said, “We, as facilitators, try to help our students every way we can, but what really matters is the development they see in themselves. We cherish the opportunity of seeing them tell their own stories.”

Building the future with science

“Science can do nothing for the world if society disregards its findings. This is why Samsung Solve for Tomorrow is so important,” said one of the national winners. “It takes science to the world, and in the process of doing it motivates people. This is so inspiring!”

Students all agree that tackling the problems of the world today requires knowledge in science and technology, not as a simple field of study but in everyday life.

“We are the future, and Solve for Tomorrow intensified our belief that together with science, we can build a better tomorrow,” said another student. “We want to thank Samsung for investing in the youth. We will continue on our journey in the STEM field with a critical problem-solving mindset to make positive transformations in society.”
