Every year, Samsung SW Academy For Youth (SSAFY) has provided outstanding software support for young students in Korea through customized education, improving their SW capabilities and competitive advantages in the job market.
Let’s hear what the 6th graduates have to say about their year at SSAFY.
A beacon to my future path
Eunsong Kim graduated with a Business Management degree, and she has dreamt of becoming a SW developer ever since. After realizing the limitations of self-study, Eunsong decided to apply for SSAFY. “Having met talented non-major associates, I was able to gain hope that I, too, could be the same if I work hard enough.”
After each lecture, Eunsong would review what she had learned, and try her best to fully understand the content by revisiting the parts she felt less confident in. Moreover, she learned the cooperative ways of developers through various projects. “SSAFY was a beacon that guided me when I felt lost. I now stand alone in the path I started with SSAFY, and unlike before, I am excited for what’s to come.”
A place for exponential growth with the team
Having majored in elementary education and worked as a director at a start-up, Hyunsoo Yoo was intrigued with SW development, but the idea of becoming a developer seemed closer to a fairy tale. However, reading the reviews from previous graduates gave him the courage to apply for SSAFY. “In the first semester, I learned the fundamentals of development. In the second, I participated in real-world projects, which led me to grow exponentially.”
Hyunsoo added that he would not have been able to get through the difficult studies if not for the encouragement of his teammates. “I was able to construct the ideas that were once just inside my head, and I am no longer hesitant to learn new skills on my own. If there are non-majors like me who are intrigued with development, I encourage you to apply for SSAFY without question.”
