In celebration of World Youth Skills Day on July 15, Samsung LATAM shared inspiring stories from its Corporate Citizenship programs, Solve for Tomorrow (SFT) and Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC). These programs equip new generations with skills that foster creativity and development in STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), benefiting their communities and aiding in their personal and professional growth.
Here are some inspiring success stories from students in Latin America who have participated in Samsung's corporate citizenship programs.
Samsung Solve for Tomorrow
Samsung Solve for Tomorrow is a global initiative designed to encourage youth's interest in science by addressing and solving local problems that affect their lives and communities. The program operates in 64 countries and has engaged over 2.6 million students worldwide through problem-solving techniques like Design Thinking and critical thinking. In Latin America, the program has been active since 2014, involving more than 352,000 mentors and students across 20 countries.Success story: rehabilitation of post-stroke patients
In the 2023 edition of Solve for Tomorrow in Peru, students from Colegio Mayor Secundario Presidente put their heads together to create an affordable and functional solution to assist patients with upper limb mobility issues following a stroke. With their mentor’s guidance, the students developed a solution called SIFT, using filaments made from recycled PET bottles. They created splints for physical rehabilitation and trained local hospitals to use them.Watch the project video below:

Success story: biogas and biofertilizer production
In the 2023 edition in Brazil, students from the Antero Câmara Penha Educational Center in Maranhão aimed to help a low-income community reduce pollution from wood, coal, and gas stoves. They developed a prototype to produce biogas and biofertilizer at home using water hyacinth biomass and methanogenic bacteria from manure and fermented cassava, generating methane gas.Watch the project video below:
