Samsung Solve for Tomorrow is a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) based educational program created to foster problem solving skills while promoting the positive impact young minds can have on our society. The program inspires participants to tackle emerging challenges and produce tangible innovations to improve our society. Throughout the journey, we aim to equip students with skills that go far beyond the technical, including the critical thinking, creative, communication, and collaboration skills needed for the future workforce.
For the school year 2024/2025, we invited young people from the Baltic States to come together and develop technology-based ideas on how to enhance students' talents with the help of artificial intelligence. Whether it's through personalized learning apps, AI-driven study aids, or tools to help manage time and resources effectively, this was an opportunity for students to think big and use AI to revolutionize the education landscape.
In a stunning display of young female creativity, a team of 10th grade visionaries from Vilnius Lyceum, representing Lithuania, took the first place. These brilliant young minds developed a unique AI-powered learning solution app that aims to change the way students engage with educational material. The app's advantage lies in its ability to adapt to each student's unique learning style, whether they're visual learners who thrive on diagrams, auditory learners who absorb information through sound, or kinesthetic learners who learn best through hands-on experience.
"We wanted to create something that really speaks to how different minds work," explained the team members. "Learning shouldn't be one-size-fits-all - it should be as unique as each student." This philosophy drove the development of an AI system that transforms off-the-shelf educational content into personalized learning experiences. The elegance of the app lies in its simplicity: students start with a learning style assessment, upload their learning materials, and watch as the AI works its magic, transforming the content into their optimal learning format.
"Creating and refining our idea was an invaluable experience. We wanted our app to be truly useful and unique. Working as a team was incredibly meaningful - though we occasionally faced disagreements, we learned to overcome obstacles effectively and grew stronger together," said Mila Sideravičiūtė. "This project taught us not just about new fields, but also about teamwork. Since the topic was new to us, we had different visions and approaches to problem-solving. Our disagreements ultimately led not only to victory but brought us closer together as a team," said Nomeda Matonytė.
"Our team is now taking steps toward implementation. Though we're only tenth graders, we believe that with enough determination, our idea can become reality. We're seeking expertise in IT and AI to help create a program that will make learning enjoyable for everyone. Our goal is to open the gates to knowledge - without the struggle!" said Dorotėja Viešūnaitė. Through their invention, these young girls are not only helping students learn better-they're revolutionizing the nature of personalized education, proving that the next generation of tech leaders is already here and ready to change the world.
