Empowering Infinite Potential

Global Dec 20. 2024

Samsung Innovation Campus supports the next generation of talent in enhancing future technology and employment capabilities. Since its launch in 2019, approximately 120,000 students across more than 30 countries have discovered new opportunities and nurtured their dreams through practical, core IT skills training. Recently, students’ stories were featured in the global current affairs and economics magazine, The Economist, sharing the growth journeys and challenges of future leaders in the tech field as they pursue their dreams.

Society Growing with Technology

Vrissca Ayu Kinati and Eva Riadhul Jannah, who recently graduated from high school in West Java, Indonesia, say they were able to achieve remarkable growth through Samsung Innovation Campus, which took place over 8 months. Vrissca recalls, "In the first phase, I learned coding and programming using Python, and in the second phase, I learned how to generate data using IoT technology. Then, we worked on a project where we designed and created products ourselves. The programming classes were the most interesting part."

The two students’ team developed an intelligent waste sorting system to address the waste management issues in their community. They plan to further develop the prototype and collaborate with various organizations, including the government, to create a comprehensive solution for the waste problem. Eva said, "I used to think that using technology was too difficult and beyond my abilities, but now I feel much more confident in understanding and applying new technologies. I want to expand the knowledge I gained from Samsung Innovation Campus and ultimately use technology to contribute to society."

Finding a New Career Path in Technology

Tshililo Mungoni, a business intelligence analyst from Johannesburg, South Africa, says that he discovered new interests and found his career path thanks to Samsung Innovation Campus. Over the course of 9 months, Tshililo took two courses and shared, "In the 'Coding and Programming' course, I learned how to analyze, organize, and visualize data using Python, and in the 'Artificial Intelligence' course, I studied machine learning, deep learning neural networks, and image classification for robotics."

Tshililo said, "It was a great help in developing soft skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, communication, project and time management, presentation skills, and creativity, and it also boosted my confidence." He added, "I use the technical knowledge and soft skills I gained from Samsung Innovation Campus in my daily work, and I advise juniors who are considering joining the program to make the most of the various opportunities offered by Samsung Innovation Campus."

Gateway to the World of Technology and Innovation

Giovana Rocha dos Santos, who is currently interning at the State University of Campinas in Brazil, says that her time at Samsung Innovation Campus was a life-changing experience. After learning Python and artificial intelligence in the courses, she developed a data analysis algorithm for her final project that indicates the risk level of accidents at specific points on roads by time of day. Giovana expressed, "The support from my teachers and mentors was a great help to the project," adding, "Thanks to them, I was able to identify traffic data elements that were crucial for the analysis."

She also shared, "Samsung Innovation Campus was a gateway to the world of technology and innovation as well as a journey of discovery," saying, "Through the process of using technology to solve everyday problems, I gained a lot of inspiration and was able to ignite my passion." Selected as a mentor for this year’s Samsung Innovation Campus, Giovana will assist five students in developing their projects. She expressed her excitement, saying, "I see it as an opportunity to grow both personally and academically."
