Samsung Innovation Campus in Türkiye was launched in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), aimed at equipping Tükiye’s youth with technical skills and soft skills, as well as expert mentorship. Through this program, participating students receive comprehensive AI training, giving them a competitive advantage in the workforce and ultimately leading them closer to their dreams. With their technical capabilities, these students become the next generation of problem-solvers paving the way toward a brighter future.

In 2023, participants in Türkiye developed several groundbreaking AI-based capstone projects that address the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations member states to be achieved by 2030. These projects offer solutions to some of the world’s most fundamental problems.

Understanding social responsibility

Program participants applied their newly acquired knowledge to capstone projects that combine technological innovation with social benefit. The training offered by SDG AI Lab not only enhanced their technical skills but also instilled in them a strong sense of social responsibility.

“Real Time Forest Fire Detection,” developed by Necip Şahamettin Küçük, Halil Çınar, and Kubilay Hasdedeoğlu, utilizes AI to detect forest fires with a 95% success rate. Necip reflects on his experience: “Samsung Innovation Campus provided me with an exceptional opportunity to learn about the latest advancements in technology and AI. I gained a deeper understanding of how to use them to create positive change in people’s lives.”

Ahmet Furkan Bayram’s project, “Mammo-Des,” demonstrates a model for diagnosing breast cancer using mammogram images. This allows for early diagnosis and effective treatment methods. “I was pleasantly surprised by the training program,” Ahmet says. “It exceeded my expectations and delivered outstanding results.”

Preparing for a rough road ahead

The program goes beyond technical training, offering participants opportunities to develop as well-rounded individuals prepared for the challenges of the workplace. Alongside collaborative and networking events with alumni, peers, and mentors, a seminar titled “Spiritual Balance in Business Life” was held by a clinical psychologist. This session equipped young professionals with strategies for maintaining mental well-being and coping with workplace stress and pressure, emphasizing the importance of protecting mental health for career success.
